When God breaks his own laws
by Nickolas inif one assumes that god made the universe it follows that he made it according to a very complex set of physical laws that determine how things work.
the quest to identify and understand those physical laws is at the very forefront of science and great strides have been made over the past few centuries, in particular during the last century.
we have known for only a few centuries that the earth rotates on its axis and orbits around the sun along with a number of other planets, more recently that the solar system is located in a radial arm of a spiral galaxy swirling around some enormous black hole.

Of course one can wonder why God is preoccupied with women's clothing when eve was naked...
Adam and eve were alone in their own private garden - even paradise - doing what comes naturally - according to Genesis. Clothes had not even been invented. In an over crowded world full of lust, clothes are a sensible accessory.
These faith versus reason debates never go anywhere because faith depends upon the willingness to suspend reason, whenever it becomes inconvenient. I really have lost the will to debate these matters. And just throw my coin in the ring now and then.

Learning..Higher Learning vs Ignorance...Higher Ignorance
by Terry inby the time of our adulthood we have a certain amount of learning "capital" in our memory bank account.. let's take a look at what it consists of and ask a few important questions.. .
what we "know" as an adult consists of the following:.
1.what we have absorbed: (passive acquisitions as a child.

Terry You have not been keeping such a close eye on the class here recently. This board has become a playground for people living a life of of delusion. You are the slap on the back of the head that the teachers used to give when I was day dreaming. The kick up the ass that we all need, even if we don't yet know.
When I'm not with you I lose my mind
Give me a sign
Hit me baby one more time
How was I supposed to know
That something wasn't right here
Hit Me Baby One More Time! -

Do you feel sorry for the family members who shun you?
by SweetBabyCheezits inas each instance of shunning happens to me, it seems even more ridiculous than the last.. this weekend i took our kids to the park - wife opted out, understandably - and we let our daughter call my parents to inform them we'd be there.
this was my first time in the presence of my parents since our df announcement two weeks ago.. my mom and dad were 10-20 feet away much of the time and yet they never said a greeting or.. well anything.
at one point my daughter, who is aware of the shunning, mistakenly thought my mom called my name and shouted excitedly, "mawmaw, were you talking to daddy??

Your parents are being influence by their mental regulation meetings and association with confidential members within the WT setup.
The stand off situation doesn't work. Stay close to them and exert your own influence. It is much greater than you can imagine. You have something that they value beyond words - your children.
Help them to understand the difference between fantasy and the reality of what they can see and hold right now in the real world - their grand children. Their grand children's genes are the closet thing to immortality that they will ever know.
All the best.

did jesus really succeed where adam failed?
by booby inwhy did jesus christ come to the earth?
the rebellion in the garden of eden brought a death sentence upon adam and eve and all their offspring, but god lovingly supplied hope.
he sent his son to the earth to provide what the bible calls a ransom.

Part of the original question by booby:
Was it not ultimately the decision Adam had to make; remain faithful and lose his soul mate, the love of his life (I would assume), or transgress to keep her and stand by her. And standing by her was a mandate of the marital vows, no?
Let's go along with the story of Adam & Eve for the sake of posterity. Adam had never met any other human. He had zero experience of life; the mentality of a 5 year old. He was bored, no TV, no books, no bible to study. Lonely, sex starved and unfulfilled.
Suddenly he is is given a present; a beautiful naked woman to play with. He's keen to please her, cos hell hath no fury like a woman scorned and even Adam would have quickly worked out this great truth of life. He stands by her and shows love, loyalty and gratefulness for his new toy - Eve.
God, who made the fruit trees, Adam & Eve, calls this sin and plunges the world into 6000 years of suffering and death because Adam ate an apple. He was too naive to firstly eat from the tree of life. We live and learn I guess. Or in Adams case we die and don't get a chance to learn.
What's the moral of this story. There isn't one!

Some good comments. Personally I would tell them that their associating with you and the grandchildren is compromising their belief that people who no longer follow the Watchtower bible & tract society are bad.
Also associating with you and at their same time ignoring you in front of your children is damaging to the children. It undermines your authority as parents. It's not the sort of example that will help your children grow into decent people and learn respect.
Your parents must play a proper roll as grandparents and act in a loving way or stay the hell out of the way! Anything in between is unhealthy and stressful for all concerned.

Although I have empathy for my family who shun me, I no longer excuse them. Enough time has passed for them to have thought through what they are doing. They have decided to harden their hearts sufficiently to keep up the embargo.
Given the nonsense they have filled their heads with and their rudeness, not seeing each other is now my choice too. Life is too short spend living in hope for something that will never come - isn't that the mistake JWs make?
SweetBabyCheezits They should treat you with respect when they see in front of your children or not at all. Perhaps their rudeness could result in you deciding that they are setting a bad example and as such are bad association for your children.
If they thought that rarely seeing their grandchildren could be the price they end up paying, they may realize that they don't have the control over family matters that they assume is all theirs.

Hey fellas, as you got older, into your early 30s, did you start finding women between their late 30s and late 40s attractive?
by miseryloveselders insomedays my dad would look at what i still call an older woman, and he'd call her attractive.
i'd look at him like dude your nuts.
i'm thinking just cuz your older doesn't mean its wrong to find younger women attractive.

Women get better with age - provided they look after themselves!
But any attractive woman between the age of 16 and xx turns my head
